The Hive is a Minecraft server founded in February 2013 by Youri Kersten (ClankStar) and Ed Barlow (b0xx3r), with significant contributions from Matt (JollyajaX). What started as a Java Edition server grew into one of the most recognizable names in Minecraft multiplayer. The Hive launched its Bedrock Edition server on October 16, 2018, and it quickly eclipsed the Java version in popularity, routinely pulling 50,000+ concurrent players. The Java server was officially shut down on April 15, 2021, allowing the team to go all-in on Bedrock.

Based in the United Kingdom, The Hive operates as Hive Games Limited and works directly with Microsoft as an official Minecraft Partner. The server is accessible on every Bedrock platform -- iOS, Android, Windows, PlayStation, Xbox, and Nintendo Switch -- making it one of the most broadly available multiplayer experiences in Minecraft. Over 100 million players have played on The Hive at some point in its history, a number that puts it in rare company among gaming servers of any kind.
