Minecraft Live 2026 Recap: Minecraft Dungeons II and Everything Announced
Minecraft Live is Mojang's showcase event, and the March 21, 2026 edition was one of the most stacked in years. It went well beyond the usual update teasers — a full-blown RPG sequel, a real-world theme park, a touring outdoor experience, and news on the year's game drops all landed in one show.
Missed it, or want the highlights without the stream? Here's everything Minecraft Live 2026 announced, and when you can actually get your hands on it.
Minecraft Dungeons II: The Headliner
The biggest reveal was Minecraft Dungeons II — a direct sequel to 2020's dungeon-crawler spin-off, built by Mojang Studios with Double Eleven. It's a full action-RPG: top-down combat, loot, and co-op, but bigger and deeper than the original.
The key details:
- Release date: September 29, 2026.
- Price: $29.99.
- Platforms: PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, Nintendo Switch 2, Nintendo Switch, and PC (Steam and Microsoft Store) — and it's on Xbox Game Pass day one.
- What's new: revamped armor systems, new enchantments and abilities, and never-before-seen locations.
Story-wise, the trailer leans hard into the Deep Dark: the main threat is a new boss called the twisted warden — a slow but devastating enemy that absorbs souls to unleash stronger sonic attacks — alongside new mobs like the caretaker and the bulb. If you enjoyed the first Dungeons, this is a substantial step up; if you bounced off it, the deeper systems might win you back.
Minecraft World: An Actual Theme Park
Then things got physical. Mojang unveiled Minecraft World, a permanent Minecraft theme park in the Greater London area, targeting a 2027 opening. It's one of the largest real-world Minecraft projects ever attempted — the plans include a first-of-its-kind Minecraft rollercoaster, an enormous Minecraft store, and themed food and attractions.
It's still a year-plus out, but the message is clear: Minecraft is expanding well beyond screens. For a game that started as a solo indie project, a dedicated theme park is a remarkable milestone.
Minecraft Experience: Moonlight Trail
Closer on the calendar is Minecraft Experience: Moonlight Trail, an outdoor, night-time Minecraft adventure. It's set to open in Buenos Aires first and then travel to other cities over time — a real-world, walk-through take on the Minecraft universe. If it comes near you, it's the closest most fans will get to stepping inside the game before Minecraft World opens.
Game-Drop News: Chaos Cubed and Tiny Takeover
The show didn't forget the base game. Minecraft Live gave a closer look at the Chaos Cubed drop — the sulfur caves and the block-eating sulfur cube — which has since launched (we covered it in full in our Chaos Cubed deep dive). It also locked in the release date for the Tiny Takeover drop. Still No Mob Vote
One thing that wasn't there, for the second year running: the mob vote. Mojang retired the community vote back in September 2024, so Minecraft Live is now purely a showcase rather than a contest. Love it or miss it, that's the new normal — and it means every mob shown off is one you're actually getting.
