Hermitcraft – Minecraft Marketplace Creator Profile
The most famous whitelisted Minecraft survival multiplayer (SMP) server, featuring 25+ content creators who produce some of the most-watched Minecraft content on YouTube.
Hermitcraft was founded on April 13, 2012, by GenerikB, who named the server after his self-imposed title as the "Gaming Hermit." Inspired by the Mindcrack server, GenerikB created a whitelisted survival multiplayer server where a small group of content creators could build, collaborate, and create content together. Original members included BDoubleO100, Keralis, Hypnotizd, Xisumavoid, and JoeHills. GenerikB himself left the server in April 2013, and administration was taken over by Xisumavoid, who remains one of the server's longest-serving members.
Over more than a decade, Hermitcraft has evolved into the most recognizable Minecraft SMP server in the world. Roughly 60 different players have been active on the main server since its creation. As of Season 10 (which ran from February 2024 to September 2025), there are 27 whitelisted members including newer additions SmallishBeans and Skizzleman. The server's members include some of the biggest names in Minecraft content creation: Mumbo Jumbo (the most subscribed Hermit by a wide margin), Grian, GoodTimesWithScar, BDoubleO100, Keralis, and many others. Combined, the Hermits represent tens of millions of YouTube subscribers.
What makes Hermitcraft special is the collaborative, survival-only approach. Every block is placed by hand. Every redstone contraption is built in survival mode. Every mega-build is the product of actual gameplay, not creative mode shortcuts. The server's seasonal structure -- each season runs for roughly 1-2 years before the world resets -- creates natural narrative arcs as Hermits establish shopping districts, build elaborate bases, run community events, and develop ongoing storylines and bits.
On the Marketplace, Hermitcraft's presence is deliberately limited but high-impact. They have released season maps (Season 8, Season 9, and Season 10) as free downloads, giving players the chance to explore the actual worlds that the Hermits built. These maps represent years of survival gameplay by over 25 creators and are remarkable artifacts of collaborative Minecraft building. The Hermitcraft TCG Add-On brings the Hermitcraft Trading Card Game into Minecraft as a playable add-on, adding a meta-game layer to the already rich Hermitcraft ecosystem.
